Mrs Santa Clause
These 2 Hands
Lee-Anne’s hands hold great power. They are often wrapped around that “thing” you’ve been tracking on the Australia Post app. Lee-Anne is either the bearer of good news, or bad.
“It’s here”
“It’s not here”
“No, it’s definitely not here”
Things like that.
Lee-Anne was one of the first people I asked for a story when I conceived of this idea a month or so ago. Then I didn’t see her again for awhile and thought I had scared her off. Fair enough, I probably come across a little crazy sometimes.
I spoke to her earlier in the week and turns out she had thought my proposal over. To my delight she agreed.
Lee-Anne has been with Australia Post for over twelve years. Her shift is an early morning start 5am Mondays and 6.30 the rest of the week. Her shift ends about 10.30am and she loves her job.
After her Monday shift Lee-Anne volunteers around at the local St Vincent’s store where she sorts clothing out the back.
Lee-Anne’s other favourite thing to do with her hands is puzzles.
I enjoy knowing these simple details about the people whom I interact in the community with. It makes our smiles go that bit deeper when we connect.
While we were chatting, another employee turned up and took our photo together (which I was not prepared for - talk about karma!)
Apparently my profile of Lee-Anne has led to local staff including us in the Australia Post magazine.
So there you go. Any minute now I’m going to be famous! Seriously though, how much fun is a project, meeting people and learning more about these humans that make up our communities? Strike up a conversation with your post office worker today, I know our local staff are some of the loveliest people to deal with.

I agree. Take no one and their services for granted! 🙏🏻
Awesome as always Kate....
